Head pressures should be okay. Did you replace the whole valve our just the power heads. If the whole valve were changed then I would be concerned with one or both valves over feeding.

This could overwhelm the condenser capacity and cause high head pressure. Originally Posted by chefid. I changed the whole txv's with new. Is this unit supposed to have a certain subcooling on the first stage? My sight glass looked clear. What is the gpm for this unit, I have no manual so im kinda blind here? Sub cooling should be like every commercial system. Where did you get the valves and are they exactly the same valves that came off, this now could be the problem. The ID tag should have a standby pressure for R23, read the tag carefully, but a might be it. Again operate the 1st stage high stage by its self and see what you get for pressures, and watch your frost line.

Is this on city water? They are typically not used for continous ultra low temperatures and oil return has not been a problem.

But if any unit calls for an additive, i put in exactly what it calls for. I mostly work on lab equipment, Revco, Sanyo, Forma etc These units operate at a continuous ultra low temperature, where oil return is a huge issue.

The pentane works great in their applications. We use an old Dial-a-Charge bottle. We vac it down to 25 microns, break the vacuum with a, burp a through a hose into the HPLC grade Pentane bottle, Then pull a 25 micron vac on the dial-a-charge bottle and draw it into the dial-a-charge bottle.

To use it we warm the bottle to at least 80 F degrees, put it on a scale and let the system draw it in. This keeps the pentane dry and never exposes it to the atmosphere. Opening and closing the bottle each time you use it will cause the pentane to become contaminated with moisture. You really have to love it, because it can be a pain. Well i found out what one of the problems was! I listen to the guy that placed the trouble call and he said the filter was fine and that it had just been changed 3 weeks ago.

I looked at the filter before started trouble shooting and it looked like all the rest of the therm's and they where running fine,so i disregarded that. Anyways, make a long story short the inline water filter was completely clogged after being changed only 3 weeks ago.
