Customize Sidebar Razer Carcharias constant static. Post a Reply. So I just got a Razer Carcharias, which I absolutely love when it comes to the sound quality and most importantly for me, comfort I had a really crappy headset before this.
Ive played around with my sound settings a bunch and havn't been able to get rid of it. Im on an Acer Aspire G laptop, and just recently updated the drivers. Any help would be appreciated.
Would be a shame if there was no hope simply because I really do like this headset. In Windows 7 there is an automatic amplifier in the recording settings. Right click the speaker icon in bottom right by your clock , select recording devices. Right click your headset and select properties. Then go to the levels tab.
See the Microphone Boost setting? Usually when the static is too much, that is the problem. I have a Razer Carcharias as well and had some static issues when switching from a junk microphone. I use skype regularly and the problems stopped.
Turning down the extra boost should eliminate your problem if there is nothing wrong with the headset and laptop. I also have the same problem, and have had to quit using skype because nobody got anything but static! Instead of opening a new post, hopefully somebody will see this and notify me of a way to turn down the mic amplifier in XP.
Banshee has similar problems, and also bursts of static 10x louder than voice level, a friend has one and he has to unplug and replug it every half hour after permanantly damaging my ears. Seems like I have fixed the problem. My mic was plugged into my Deathadder Ultimate keyboard and I moved it to the port on the back of my computer.
Seems to have fixed it. But I don't seem to be able to install skype Yea I had the same issue with the Razer Carcharias headset,my static came in at random times. I turned mic boost down but it then made it hard for people to hear me. They look simple but stylish and comfortable to wear. These are not the best set of headphones I have used but for the price, utility between the PC and Xbox they are well worth having a set for the budget to mid-range gamer.
I have a large noggin so finding a headset that fits me becomes something of a task. These are not as adjustable as the Razer Blacksharks or other headsets but Razer did a good job of the size of the cups to compensate.
The headband does adjust up and down to for the individual persons head, and while the cups do not adjust they are large to accommodate just about anyone. The actual cups have a nice think padding with a felt cover so they are comfortable on your ears and not scratching or sticking to your head after long gaming sessions. The microphone does not adjust but it does move up and down so you can move this out of the way for just listening to movies or music.
Also Razer had enough foresight to make the cable almost 10 ft long so it may be messy at a PC but using them on a Xbox you have enough length to sit back and enjoy playing games. These headphones do not weigh anything. While the Carcharias headset is the largest of those we've recently tested, it's surprisingly lightweight, which allowed us to have extended sessions of play time and chatting.
On the left ear cup you'll find the protruding boom microphone that can swivel degrees around--completely out of sight if you'd like. We really liked the cloth-braided wire that extends out of the left ear cup as well. Measuring in at just under 10 feet, the cable provides more than ample length for just about any activity.
An inline clothing clip and remote provides easy access to the volume control in addition to a microphone mute toggle. While a wireless situation is ideal for conducting Skype or other VoIP sessions, you'll still have some sense of freedom with the Carcharias. We ran the Carcharias through a series of tests, first examining its performance during a chat-based gaming session. We were a bit uncomfortable with the positioning of the boom microphone to start, as the boom itself isn't as adjustable as some of the headsets we've tested in the past.
Since it's only flexible in the center of the boom, it may initially feel awkward when trying to use it. That said, we had nothing but solid results in all of our gaming matches with Counter-Strike as our teammates reported loud and clear voice chat from our player.
